Parent University hosts a “Man Up ” forum “ to inspire fathers to get more involved in their children’s lives. The event is Wed. Feb. 24, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Learning Community Center of North Omaha, 2411 Franklin St. Participation is limited to the first fifty who register. Fathers who want to participate are encouraged to sign up by Thursday Feb. 18.
A community panel will share new information about what’s working to help children succeed. Jamalia Parker works with families taking Parent University classes at the Learning Community Center of North Omaha. She says, “We want to share some tools to help father’s take a leadership role in supporting their children. Fathers count a great deal in a child's life, but sometimes they feel forgotten.”
The evening starts with a video and a community panel discussion. Panel members include: Pastor Dale Carter, Chaplain at Release Ministries; Pastor Tony E. Sanders, Jr., Koinonia House of Worship and Family First; Alberto Gonzales, OPD Gang Specialist; Jeremy Rutherford, APEX Program Youth Services Supervisor. The panel moderator is 106.9 radio personality, Houston Alexander.
