Our Volunteer Program gives individuals a chance to support students, educators, and families through meaningful, hands-on service. Program Mission
Volunteers are essential partners in our mission to expand educational opportunities and strengthen communities. Through a variety of service opportunities, volunteers enhance student learning, support family engagement, and bring energy and care into our programs.

Volunteering with the Learning Community of Douglas and Sarpy County
Commitment: Flexible; based on your availability and our program needs.
Grow innovative and family centered 2-Gen programs, especially in high poverty communities. Demonstrate proven outcomes to increase impact from birth to Grade 3 and contribute to comprehensive child development.
Depending on your interests and strengths, you may support:
- Classroom Support: Assist teachers with instructional tasks, reading programs, and family engagement.
- Tutoring & Mentorship: Provide academic help through one-on-one or small-group sessions.
- Event Assistance: Support the setup, coordination, and facilitation of community events and workshops.
- Program Operational Support: Help with clerical tasks, organizing supplies, and general program logistics.
- Special Projects: Jump in on unique, one-time initiatives throughout the year.
- Must be at least 18 years old (or accompanied by a guardian, if younger)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Dependable and committed to scheduled hours
- Comfortable working with diverse groups of people
- Must complete a volunteer application, pass a background check, and pass drug screening
- Required to attend orientation and training
- Make a meaningful impact in your local community
