The Learning Community of Douglas and Sarpy Counties has appointed Sharnelle Shelton to fill its Coordinating Council Achievement Subcouncil 2 vacancy.
After an application and interview process, Shelton was appointed and sworn in Thursday by the current Coordinating Council to serve in the role from January 2023 through December 2024.
Shelton is a provider experience representative at the Department of Veterans Affairs as well as an entrepreneur and a mother. In her interview, Shelton said, “My most important job is being a parent to my three children.” Pictured here is Shelton’s son Jayven, testifying publicly on behalf of his mom.
As one of two council members representing Achievement Subcouncil 2, she will represent the Omaha Public Schools.
